Dr. Charles C. Johnson
was born along with an identical twin
brother in Rome, Ga. He was raised in Smyrna, Ga.
where he
met and married the former Lynn Brown. Charles and Lynn
currently
reside in Rolesville, NC and have two daughters.
They are
Sara Lynn who lives in Swanannoa, NC with her husband Steve
and
their children Madison and Garrett and Rachel who lives in Charlotte,
NC with her husband Joe and their children Avery, Cole, and
Ryann.
Dr. Johnson served in
the United States Air Force, graduated
from Georgia State University with a BA in Business
Administration, and worked in corporate sales prior to moving to Wake
Forest, NC where he attended Southeastern Seminary.
He
received both a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry
degree from Southeastern. While attending Southeastern, he
served
as Associate Pastor at Durham Memorial Baptist
Church. He
was then called to serve for more than thirteen years as Associate
Pastor/Minister of
Education at Temple
Baptist Church in Raleigh. After that,
he served as Pastor at Temple until stepping down in
2009.
He was called as Samaria's fulltime pastor in July, 2009.
Dr. Johnson has served
various religious organizations in
many different capacities including writing, consulting, and
teaching. In his spare time, he enjoys painting, golf, and
working in his garage and yard. He and Lynn are excited about
serving the Lord at Samaria Baptist Church.

Judy was born and raised in Raleigh, and has been an organist in several area churches for 50 years. She has been the organist at Samaria Baptist Church since 1990. As a piano student for nine years, she was graded each year by the National Guild of Piano Teachers. As an organ student at Peace College, she accompanied the choir and played in the churches when they performed. As a student, she also substituted for vacationing organists around town. She was also graded by the American Guild of Organists. Judy is an organist and vocalist on call at the local funeral homes in Raleigh. |

Sophia grew up in rural Duplin County where she was baptized
at the age of 7. She has been involved in many "Baptist Activities"
throughout her life.
Sophia earned a BA degree in English from UNC-W.
She has worked as a social worker in Duplin County, an
adoptiion social worker in Greensboro, an office manager in Wilmington,
and various other positions with non-profit organizations.
Sophia is married to Ken Phelps, an architect with the
NC Dept. of Public Instruction, and they have one daughter, Sarah.
Sarah is the choral music director at West Johnston High
School.
Sophia enjoys talking (which everyone teases her about),
meeting new people, reading, smocking, sewing, and playing with their
two maltese dogs, Mozart and Bogart.
